M7 Wins Supply Chain Award For Third Year in a Row

M7 Aerospace has been selected to receive the 2008 Excellence in Innovative Supply Management (EISM) Award, given by the Southwest Forum and the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) in Tempe, Arizona. It is the third year in a row that M7 has earned the award.

M7 was one of just six companies to win the award this year, which is given annually to recognize and reward organizational excellence in the purchasing and supply management field. The award was presented during the 62nd Annual Southwest Supply Management Conference, September 25, in Plano, Texas.

"We are excited and pleased to be selected for the EISM for the third year in a row,” said Brian Dannewitz, Vice President of Supply Chain Management for M7 Aerospace. “This award reinforces the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the M7 Procurement and Supply Chain Management Services Team in delivering innovative solutions and services to the global aerospace market.”

The EISM Award is sponsored jointly by the Southwest Forum and the ISM. In receiving the EISM Award, M7 has been recognized for achieving a higher standard of excellence. Applicants are evaluated on their innovative practices and continuous efforts to improve their purchasing and supply management programs.

Encouraging organizational excellence, higher organizational standards and best practices in the purchasing and supply management industry, the EISM Award program is open to both small and larger businesses from the public and private sectors.

An efficient supply chain management program is a critical element in M7's business activities. It is particularly important in the Government Logistics Contracting business, where M7 supports both the C-20 & C-23 fleets of military aircraft, keeping these aircraft mission ready at more than 20 locations through out the world.

M7’s award winning supply chain management program is also an important part of the Aerostructures Manufacturing and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul business units, where the timely availability of parts and supplies are critical to success, and in the Aircraft Parts and Service Support business which supplies parts to keep a fleet of nearly 750 Fairchild Metro and Merlin aircraft flying around the world.

M7 Aerospace operates five business units, including Government Logistics Support Contracting; Aerostructures Manufacturing; Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul; Aircraft Parts and Service Support; and Engineering Services.

In addition to M7’s five business units, M7 Aerospace recently announced it is offering of Business Process Outsourcing Services to the aerospace community. This Business Process Outsourcing Services program is integrated into M7’s existing Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Services support group. M7 Aerospace is a designated small business located on the San Antonio International Airport. M7 operates from a 426,000 sq. ft. factory complex formerly occupied by Fairchild Aircraft. M7 acquired the assets of Fairchild Aircraft in December 2002.

M7 Aerospace began operations on April 1, 2003 with approximately 175 employees. The company now employs nearly 500 people worldwide and more than 300 in San Antonio.

M7 Aerospace’s aviation tradition of maintenance and repair, government logistic support and aerospace manufacturing began with the company’s original founding more than 80 years ago as the Fairchild Aviation Corporation.
